Homily of the Day

Tuesday of the Twenty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time

When Jesus brought the dead man back to life, he did so out of love and compassion for his mother. Imagine the mother ecstatic with joy as she embraces her son brought back to life. Their relationship was also brought back to life.

With Jesus, death will never have the last word. When Jesus has brought us to heaven, when all the redeemed rejoice in the glory of the resurrection, we will be one very happy family. All those relationships that mean so much to us now which are the source of both happiness and sorrow will be purified and lifted up in never ending communion.

Let us thank the Lord for his love and ask him to increase our hope that one day, with the help of his grace, we will share in his eternal life.
