Luke 8:17
For nothing is hid that shall not be made manifest, nor anything secret that shall not be known and come to light.
A convinced Catholic is confident that, not only will the truth of the Faith not be hidden, it can’t be hidden even if we try. After all, the Faith has been stomped into the dirt by professionals like Nero and Hitler and it’s still here, bigger and brighter than ever! So there’s no need to be nervously defensive for the Faith. On the other hand, this confidence must not lead us to complacently coasting along on a laissez faire notion that “somebody else will do the evangelizing” while we channel surf. The best arguments for the Faith are Christians who shine their light. The best arguments against it are Christians who hide their light. What Nero couldn’t do by the sword, we Christians can do by a sin. But what we cannot do in our own strength, the Holy Spirit can do through us if we obey Him!
