Notre Dame Student Protest Planned for Palm Sunday

NOTRE DAME STUDENT COALITION ANNOUNCES FIRST OFFICIAL DEMONSTRATION PALM SUNDAY APRIL 5TH 2 PM ON CAMPUS DEMANDS UNIVERSITY NOT BESTOW HONORARY LAW DEGREE ON PRESIDENT OBAMA

Notre Dame, IN — April 3rd — The University of Notre Dame student formed coalition, Notre Dame Response consisting of 11 different on campus student groups are demanding that the University not bestow an Honorary Law Degree to President Obama during the May 17th commencement ceremonies.

More than 15 US Bishops have come out against this commencement invitation by Notre Dame to President Obama including Cardinal George, the head of the USSCB. Notre Dame Response is urging the University to withdraw the honorary Law Degree to be given to President Obama in keeping with Catholic teachings on Natural Law especially the sacredness and dignity of all human life from conception until natural death and in keeping with the USCCB own guidelines of not honoring pro-abortion politicians at Catholic Institutions.

Notre Dame Response has invited as the main speaker of the 2pm Palm Sunday rally nationally recognized attorney Harold Cassidy, who has litigated pro-life cases that have advanced the true rights and interests of pregnant mothers. He will also use the occasion to address some of the false assumptions of Gov. Mario Cuomo 1984 speech delivered 25 years ago at Notre Dame.
