Model of Christian Courage

“Our model for courage must be the young woman God ordained from the beginning to crush the head of the serpent, who never deviated from His will nor without her love in any circumstance. Understanding the Blessed Virgin Mary is integral to understanding the authentic femininity. As a daughter of God the Father, mother of God the Son and spouse of the Holy Spirit, her position within the mystery of the Trinity might seem to place her beyond our understanding and emulation –but that is not so. God in his goodness offers us a woman who walked and wept, who laughed and lingered among loved ones as all of us do. While she was without sin, she was flesh and blood, wife and friend, mother and believer –in a capacity we can all treasure on a variety of levels.”
