Every Spiritual Blessing!

Ephesians 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.

Paul does not say that God has blessed us with “a whole lot of” blessing or “quite a bit” of blessing. He is clear that “every” spiritual blessing we have received has already been given. How can this be when, quite frankly, the world still stinks? The answer is found, not in the world, but in Christ. For it is “in Christ”–in his very person as God made man–that the blessings of God are found. Among those blessing is the slow transformation of our life into a glorious likeness of his glory. That process is still going on in this life and pain is no small part of it. But the gift has been given, for Christ has been raised and ascended and we, if we are baptized and living in faith, are already participants in his eternal life. Today, thank God for his gift of every blessing in Christ. He is the sum of all Blessing.
