Jeff Cavins, co-founder of Catholic Exchange and well-known host of the Relevant Radio™ flagship morning program called Morning Air™, will leave the show to devote his full attention to developing Bible study projects for the Catholic Church, including his popular Bible study program “The Great Adventure Bible Timeline,” according to a statement issued today by Mark Follett, Chairman and CEO.
Teresa Tomeo, news director at Relevant Radio™ and a 20-year veteran broadcast journalist, was named acting host of the Morning Air program now heard each morning throughout the country on 14 Relevant Radio™ stations and 11 affiliates.
In his statement, Follett said: “After much prayer and discernment, Jeff Cavins will not be returning to the Morning Air show. We are going to miss Jeff as he transitions to devote more time and energy to his rapidly growing Bible study and his many related speaking engagements. Without the commitment of a daily radio show Jeff will be free to conduct Bible seminars in parishes and seminaries around the country. Plans are in the works for Jeff to return to Relevant Radio™ this fall with this highly acclaimed Scripture series.”
“In the interim, Teresa Tomeo will anchor the show,” said Follett. “We are pleased Teresa has accepted the role of acting host until a permanent host is found.” Tomeo is a professional speaker and media consultant from the Detroit radio and TV market. She currently hosts a daily talk show on Christian radio in Detroit in addition to her duties as Relevant Radio™ news director.
“My time with Relevant Radio™ was truly a gift from God,” said Cavins. “I’m very thankful for the privilege of working with such an incredibly talented and devoted group of people. I’m proud of how much we’ve accomplished in such a short period of time,” he said. “Many people's lives have been changed for the better through Morning Air and our other programming. I pray for the continued success and public support of Relevant Radio™. Clearly Catholics are ready for a deeper, more fulfilling relationship with their faith. Relevant Radio™ will play a very important role in the New Evangelization championed by our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II.”
Sherry Brownrigg, Chief Programming Officer, encouraged Morning Air listeners to stay tuned for future announcements regarding the popular show. “Morning Air is the bedrock upon which we have built the breakthrough Relevant Radio™ format helping Catholics bridge the gap between their faith and their everyday lives,” she said. “Our plans are to continue the Morning Air tradition of energy, meaningful conversation and inspiration that so many of our listeners now depend on to start their day. As we undertake an intensive search for a new host to carry forward the Morning Air torch, there is truly no doubt that God has someone in store for us and we are excited to bring that person’s gifts and talents to the airwaves.”
