In the first reading Jeremiah differentiates between the cursed man who depends on human beings and the man blessed whose confidence is in Yahweh.

In the Gospel reading the rich man who spent his life feasting ends up in the fires of hell while the poor man Lazarus whose life was spent in pain is rewarded in heaven.

Am I one who trusts in my own talents or in the loving God? How aware and concerned am I of those in need whom I could help?
