Call Senators This Week to Oppose These Nominees

When the Senate returns from Easter break, the senators will be voting on three radical, pro-abortion nominees. Call or email your U. S. Senators this week to oppose them.

Judge David Hamilton for a federal appeals court judge, Prof. Dawn Johnsen, for the Office of Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice, and Gov. Kathleen Sebelius for Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Hamilton’s views are far outside the legal mainstream. In 2005, he ruled that prayers to Jesus were sectarian and unconstitutional while stating that prayers to “Allah” were acceptable. In addition, Hamilton is also ardently pro-abortion. This former ACLU attorney blocked an informed consent abortion law in Indiana that is nearly identical to a law approved by the Supreme Court. In fact, the 7th Circuit called Hamilton’s obstruction of the informed consent law “an abuse of discretion.”

Johnsen worked for ACLU’s Reproductive Freedom Project and she was legal director for National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL). She compared pregnancy to slavery. In 1989 she wrote that abortion restrictions such as a partial birth abortion ban and parental notification laws result in “forced pregnancy” which she claimed would be “involuntary servitude.” Johnsen was also heavily involved in the authorship of the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) which would repeal every state and federal restriction on abortion and enshrine abortion as law of the land.

– As governor, Sebelius vetoed the Comprehensive Abortion Reform Act, legislation to implement restrictions on late-term abortion procedures. She vetoed parental notification measures in Kansas. Sebelius vetoed legislation to crack down on appalling conditions in certain abortion clinics, including one in which fetal remains were stored in the same refrigerator as food. She even held a reception in the gubernatorial mansion honoring abortionist George Tiller.
