The Lying Has Never Stopped
And it is not a women's rights issue, as its supporters claim. At an average fee of $400 per abortion, times over 41 million abortions, it helped the abortion industry rake in … well, you do the arithmetic.
The lure of all that money has even drawn the mob into the grisly business. In a NewsMax.com story on March 30, 2001, I wrote about one Anthony Centracchio, 62, who was described as “allegedly the leader or boss of the Eboli-Centracchio criminal enterprise. The indictment also identified him as the owner and operator of A.C.T. Medical Center, 5714 West Division Street, Chicago …”
The A.C.T. Medical Center is an abortion clinic. The mob, it seems, is now in the business of whacking babies.
Centracchio never went to trial. He was retroactively aborted by cancer recently.
Norma Jean McCorvey was the “Roe” in the Roe v. Wade case. She claimed, at the time, that she was the victim of a gang rape that resulted in her pregnancy.
That was, she now admits, a lie.
And the lying has never stopped.
“Fetus” Means Baby
“The abortion regime was born in lies,” wrote National Review on Jan. 26, 1998. In an editorial, “Dead Reckoning,” the magazine counted these lies:
• “In Britain [and in California, pre-Roe], the abortion lobby deceptively promoted legal revisions to allow “therapeutic” abortions and then defined every abortion as “therapeutic.”
• The abortion lobby lied about Jane Roe, claiming her pregnancy resulted from a gang rape.
• It lied about the number of back-alley abortions. Justice Blackmun relied on fictitious history to argue, in Roe, that abortion had never been a common-law crime.
The abortion regime, National Review continued, is “also sustained by lies.”
• Its supporters constantly lie about the radicalism of Roe: Even now, most Americans who “agree with Roe v. Wade” in polls think that it kept third-term abortions illegal and restricted second-term abortions.
• They have lied about the frequency and medical necessity of partial-birth abortion.
• Then there are the euphemisms: “terminating a pregnancy,” abortion “providers,” “products of conception.” “The fetus is only a potential human being” – as if it might as easily become an elk.
• “It should be between a woman and her doctor” – the latter an abortionist who has never met the woman before and who has a financial interest in her decision.
This movement cannot speak the truth.
“The abortion regime was born in lies. … The abortion regime is also sustained by lies. … Everything abortion touches, it corrupts.”
Roe's supporters said at the time that the widespread availability of abortion would lead to fewer unwanted pregnancies, hence less child abuse; it has not.
They said it would reduce illegitimacy and child poverty, predictions that now seem like grim jokes.
Carol Everett, a former abortion clinic owner, says abortion clinic employees routinely lie to women thinking about aborting their unborn child.
“Is it a baby?” Everett says the women ask. “And the stat answer is, 'No.' Now, they may call it something different – the 'products of conception,' a 'blood clot,' 'tissue,' anything, maybe even 'a fetus' but never 'a baby.' And those people in there know it's a baby.”
[Note: In Latin, fetus means “baby.”]
The Cruelest Lie of All
Perhaps the cruelest lie peddled by the abortion industry is their flat-out denial that a woman having an abortion increases her chances of having breast cancer.
In the face of all the evidence to the contrary, the abortionists and their supporters simply deny that there is any connection between abortion and breast cancer.
They spread the lie that studies that have found that abortions increase the risk are inconclusive,” charges Dr. Frank Joseph in a column on his website. “This in spite of the fact that the evidence is overwhelming. They don't even want special commissions set up to investigate the abortion/breast cancer link.”
He notes that thanks mainly to Democratic politicians, various states have voted down such commissions, and he explains why the abortion industry desperately seeks to conceal the fact that 13 of 15 studies done in the U.S. and 28 of 37 worldwide have found that abortions increase the risk of breast cancer.
“They know that if a special commission, state or federal, confirms these studies, that it would be a big blow to the abortion industry and their propagation of abortions,” Dr. Joseph writes.
“So what better way than nipping the investigations in the bud? You see, they want no part of the TRUTH. Planned Parenthood and the entire abortion industry spends millions of dollars to keep this America's best kept secret and they have the NCI, the ACS, various breast cancer organizations, such as the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the mainstream media in their hip pocket.
“They really don't [care] about the health of other women as they purport. Their fate is sealed. Now, they care about ONE thing only – the flourishing of the abortion industry.”
He cites a study by Dr. Janet Daling, a pro-abortion researcher, funded by the National Cancer Institute, which revealed these shocking statistics:
• The study showed that induced abortions increased the risk of breast cancer by an average of 50 percent.
• If a woman had obtained her first abortion after age 30, her risk jumped by 110 percent.
• If she had her first abortion before she turned 18, it increased by 150 percent.
• Worse yet, if she has a family history (mother, sister, aunt) of breast cancer and had a first abortion after age 30, her risk went up by 270 percent.
As staggering as the above statistics are, the most ominous were the results for women who had had an abortion before age 18 and who also had a family history of breast cancer. EVERY ONE of them got breast cancer! [Daling et al., Journal of the National Cancer Institute (1994) 86:1584-92]
If these facts were widely known, Dr. Joseph predicts, they would sound the death knell for the abortion industry.
One can only hope … and pray.
