When I began working with Catholic Exchange on the upcoming woman's study that will celebrate the 20th anniversary of John Paul's Apostolic Letter on the Dignity of Women, I knew I wanted everything about the study to reflect a female presence — including the music that would begin the weekly podcasts.Â
As always, when I'm in a position to ferret out a good book to read or the perfect CD to lift my heart, I make Lisa Hendey's site http://www.catholicmom.com/ my first stop. Lisa does a magnificent job keeping us informed of all things Catholic and her site is jam packed with all sorts of goodies. True to form, one of Lisa's music recommendations proved to be just what I was looking for and very soon I was sampling the wonderful music of Teresa Smith.Â
I have, for years, enjoyed a wide variety of Christian music ranging from some very popular artists to those whose names are less known. While I enjoy them all, a few ultimately become favorites and are listened to over and over while others gather a bit of dust on the shelf. It quickly became quite apparent to me that Teresa's CD, "Blooming" was sure to become one of my favorites. I found myself saying, "Now this is my favorite one!" to every song that played.Â
Each of Teresa's songs, from the title track "Blooming" to "Holy, Holy, Holy," reveals the beauty of our Catholic faith. Hearing Teresa sing "Kneeling again before You Lord in Your sacrament divine" in the song titled "Open Book" recalls, in an instant, the joy and serenity found in Eucharistic Adoration; a tremendous gift of the Catholic Church. Or when, from the song "One by One" Teresa reveals that "One by one He hangs on my every word. One by one all my failings are heard" we are reminded of the great strength that comes from the knowledge that He is a very personal, exceedingly attentive Father.Â
Teresa's CD "Blooming" is sure to become a favorite among Catholic women who seek to be reminded, in their music, that they are loved by a caring God and are part of a plan much bigger than they could have imagined. Visit Teresa's website http://www.teresasmithmusic.com/ for more information on Teresa's ministry of music or to order her CD.
