Review: The IVP Dictionary of the New Testament

In The IVP [InterVarsity Press] Dictionary of the New Testament (edited by Daniel G. Reid, InterVarsity Press) has combined the essential elements from four previous works: Dictionary of Jesus and the Gospels, Dictionary of Paul and his Letters, Dictionary of the Later New Testament and its Development, and Dictionary of New Testament Background. This single-volume compendium is an excellent resource on the New Testament.

The dictionary features a glossary of terms, and both a scriptural index and an articles index. Contributing scholars cover topics including God, death, Ascension, and others, as well as commentaries on the New Testament scriputes.

This rigorous academic work belongs in any scripture reference collection, and is highly recommended for every level of student.

InterVarsity Press publishes many books and reference materials on scripture, theology, and other religious areas. Some of their material is specifically Catholic, but most are broad based as is The IVP Dictionary of the New Testament.
