Pro-Life TV Show Nominated For Emmy Award

Cincinnati-based Life Issues Institute has announced that their compelling pro-life TV show, Facing Life Head-On, captured the attention of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) and has earned a nomination for the prestigious Emmy Award.

Facing Life Head-On, a weekly television show sponsored by Life Issues Institute, is one of 4 nominees in the NATAS Ohio Valley Chapter’s “Interview/Discussion Program” category. Winners will be announced July 31.

“This is great news-not just for us, but for the whole pro-life community,” Brad Mattes, host and executive producer of the show and executive director of Life Issues Institute, told LifeSiteNews in an email announcing the nomination.

“We live in a society where, if abortion is mentioned on TV, it’s almost always accompanied with a veil of lies. Four years ago, we set out to produce a quality show that would touch the hearts and minds of people across America. It’s incredibly satisfying to see our team recognized for that commitment to excellence,” said Mattes. “We’re honored to be considered for such a highly-competitive award.”

Facing Life Head-On airs weekly in more than 100 million homes across the US and Canada. Fusing education with entertainment to promote the value of innocent human life at all stages, the broadcast covers topics as diverse as adoption, disabilities, abortion, stem cell treatments, medical technologies and end-of-life care.

Mattes observed that the feedback that has been received from viewers is consistently positive and, for some, life-changing.

“Viewers often write in to tell us the show changed their way of thinking about the life issues-matters like abortion, adoption, stem cell treatments and end-of-life care. Women are choosing life for their unborn babies. Parents are moving forward with the adoption of special needs children. Young people are getting empowered with the information they need to speak out,” Mattes said.

Though the show has already received a Bronze Winner Telly Award and an Accolade Award of Excellence, Mattes remarked that winning people over to the culture of life is more important than winning awards.

“Though we’d certainly love to win that Emmy, our greater mission is to win the hearts and minds of America. This is proving to be a successful way of doing it!”
