Catholic families have developed Mission San Miguel, a new neighborhood in the beautiful eastside of Tallahassee, Florida. It has been built on former mission land. Three hundred years ago, it was the home to the Spanish Franciscan Friars and Apalachee Indians and was called San Pedro y Pablo de Patale Mission.
The original goals of the founding families were quite simple: more neighborhood play/less driving and more family time. The neighborhood has developed into something much greater, and is truly an expression of our faith.
There is a beautiful rosary path through the woods, and when complete, a small time-period chapel with St Joseph and the Baby, archangel statues for the fountains, fountain tile patterned after the Apalachee Indian pottery, a John Paul II community center, and tennis courts and ball fields.
All generations are moving into the community; the neighbors look forward to helping one another and celebrating feast days together. Some families are looking into lots at San Miguel for retirement. Others are interested in their children attending college at Florida State University because of the wonderful Brothers of Hope Catholic Student Union. Home school families are also drawn to the community, for the many benefits of being so near other home school families. Many are drawn who desire closer community.
Profit has never been a part of this neighborhood. Any money left in the project will be donated to pro-life.
There are 82 home sites; approximately 2/3 has been sold, house building has begun. Prices are excellent for new home building now. All are invited to visit this new yet historic neighborhood. Enjoy the beauty and romance and anticipate the wonderful community of Mission San Miguel.
