Sunday, May 6, 2007 the Chicago Hilton will be host to the most anticipated, largest and most virtuous fashion show in all of Chicagoland, Pure Fashion 2007!
In 1999, a dedicated group of mothers with teenage daughters decided it was time to start turning the tide of the fashion trends — all of which seemed to be ever more skimpy, revealing and degrading to the inherent dignity that young women possess. A new kind of fashion show seemed to be the answer. Since then, what started as small, local fashion shows occurring in a few states, has blossomed into a national organization that coordinates annual fashion shows in several major cities throughout the United States and Canada — Pure Fashion!
Pure Fashion is an international faith-based program that encourages high school girls to live, act and dress in accordance with their dignity as children of God, guiding them to become confident, competent leaders who live the virtues of modest and purity in their schools and communities. Pure Fashion models learn the importance of living a life in accordance with God's will and fostering a life of grace through purity of heart, mind and body.
This year's show in Chicago features styles by Macy's department store and expects to draw over 1000 attendees who will be treated to a delicious lunch, a parade of fashions modeled by over thirty teenage girls, a Chinese raffle, and a remarkable line-up of entertainment. Guests include Leah Darrow, a former contestant on America's Next Top Model as well as Christian recording artist and songwriter, Suzanne Firestone. All of this takes place at the Chicago Hilton located on the "Cultural Michigan Avenue Mile" overlooking Grant Park and Lake Michigan.
Models began their preparation for the show last November with an entire development program which included training in etiquette, public speaking, make-up application and of course, modeling. Most importantly, these young women have been given a new appreciation for human virtues and values that seem forgotten in recent fashion design. One such virtue is modesty.
"Modesty is more than the way we dress; it is an outward reflection of an interior attitude," says Brenda Sharman, former Miss Georgia USA and National Director of Pure Fashion. This revolutionary attitude has captured the attention of women of all ages who are eager to applaud and endorse the message that this program is sending to the fashion industry.
