Sterling, VA Care Net and Heartbeat International, two of the leading organizations helping women facing unexpected pregnancies, are ready to expand their outreach to women using the Internet.
Thanks to the acquisition of Pregnancy Centers Online, the two groups are now able to reach tens of thousands of people in varying pregnancy situations each week.
“Pregnancy Centers Online has served women facing crisis pregnancies for seven years, and has become the nation's best known website pointing women to nearby pregnancy centers,” said Kurt Entsminger, president of Care Net.
The new endeavor by Care Net and Heartbeat to manage and operate the website works within their joint venture operation, Option Line. Option Line is a call center that receives calls 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week from all across the country and connects callers to their local pregnancy resource centers.
Their web site, OptionLine.org, will benefit from the 25,000 people who visit Pregnancy Centers Online each week.
Steven Ertelt, the Editor and CEO of LifeNews.com produced and directed Pregnancy Centers Online with his wife Sally Winn, the Vice-President of Feminists for Life. He said the change would help him direct his efforts more towards pro-life news.
“With the launch of LifeNews.com, our focus is shifting from a general Internet outreach to specifically producing news for the pro-life community,” Ertelt explained.
“That left us with more limited resources to operate our pregnancy outreach. We're excited to be working with Care Net and Heartbeat and they will continue our efforts to harness the power of the Internet to reach women in need. They will take Pregnancy Centers Online to the next level,” Ertelt said.
Dr. Margaret Hartshorn, president of Heartbeat International, said, “This is an extremely exciting development as it empowers us to show compassion and hope to the thousands more abortion vulnerable women every week.”
Since 1996, Pregnancy Centers Online has helped two million visitors find pregnancy assistance and information.
Entsminger added, “Our affiliation networks [Care Net and Heartbeat] are the leaders in providing practical pregnancy help to women through local pregnancy centers and with the purchase of the highly visible Pregnancy Centers Online website, we become leaders on the Internet helping women find help via the web as well.”
Hartshorn added, “We are harnessing the power of the Internet and expanding our outreach. In addition to providing information on local pregnancy centers, the website will be equipped to answer questions via e-mail, and will offer information about pregnancy and abortion.”
