Happy Birthday Susan B. Anthony!

Yesterday was Susan B. Anthony’s birthday. Most people recognize the name Susan B. Anthony as that of the great women's rights campaigner but many do not know that she was also a pro-life activist. The Susan B. Anthony organization is urging women across the US to write a letter to the editor of their local newspaper informing readers of this fact.

Susan B. Anthony spent her life fighting for equality for everyone including women, slaves and the unborn. She believed all people should be treated equally. She made no exception for the unborn – openly opposing abortion.

Susan B. Anthony believed that unborn children had the right to life. She referred to abortion as “child murder” in her newspaper, The Revolution. She recognized the need to “eradicate the most monstrous crime” of abortion from society. It is often unreported in history that Anthony held such strong pro-life views.

In exposing this fact to readers across the nation, perhaps women today who write about 'reproductive rights' will question what rights the unborn child has. Are these rights equal? Do unborn babies have the American right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that our country was founded on? No. Susan B. Anthony, the champion of women-also a champion of the unborn-knew this fact. But some women today do not get the facts. Did you know two million couples are waiting to adopt a child?

America's women need to know abortion is not a solution or a right, it is an in inequality, harming women and killing children. Women need to talk to those who have had an abortion or visit www.silentnomore.org and read women’s testimonies. Abortion is a procedure that makes the abortion industry rich and women regretful. It is an action requiring a lifetime of healing. Those affected by abortion should know there is help. There are healing programs including Project Rachel.

So, in honor of Susan B. Anthony's birthday, I, along with the Susan B. Anthony organization, urge women to write to their local newspapers. Visit this website for sample letters. If your letter is published, mail it to the Susan B. Anthony organization and it may be featured on their website.

If Susan B. Anthony owned a car today, her bumper sticker would read: Equal rights for unborn women! Happy Birthday Susan B. Anthony!
