Giuseppe Ricciotti (1890–1964) was an Italian priest and a member of the Canons Regular of the Lateran religious order. He was a biblical scholar, a teacher, and an archaeologist. When, as a World War I chaplain, he lay in a field hospital, hovering between life and death, he promised God that if he lived, he would write a life of Christ. Later, as a procurator of his congregation’s motherhouse, Fr. Ricciotti provided a safe haven for many refugees during World War II. He served as a consultant to the Vatican Congregation for the Clergy and authored several other books, including History of Israel, Paul the Apostle, and works on Scripture and Church history.
