Comic Book Celebrates the Year of the Rosary, Month of Mary

In early May 2003, Pauline Books and Media published the Rosary Comic Book, a comic book adaptation of the mysteries of the Rosary. The Rosary Comic Book, is designed to be used in two ways: it can be read as a regular comic book, or it can be used in prayer, with the panels taking the place of the beads of a traditional rosary chain.

The Rosary Comic Book is 56 pages long and in full color. It contains instructions on how to pray the Rosary, the full text of all the prayers of the Rosary, and the Luminous Mysteries, which were recently introduced by Pope John Paul II. Cartoonist Gene Yang, creator of the comic book, hopes that his work will prove useful to Catholic children, their parents, and their teachers. “As a child I didn’t really understand that the Rosary was meant to be a meditation on Christ’s life- it just seemed like a bunch of words I had to say over and over and over,” Yang explains. “I’m hoping that this comic book will help today’s kids understand what I didn’t.”

The Rosary Comic Book is a part of a product line released this month by Pauline Books and Media to commemorate the Year of the Rosary and the Month of Our Lady. For more information, please visit www.pauline.org.
