DESCRIPTION: Catholic Exchange (CE) seeks an experienced fundraising professional to manage major gift fundraising, including large private donations, foundations and grants. The Director of Development will develop strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift donors, oversee all aspects of donor relations, ensure that return on investment is appropriate, and keep abreast of professional guidelines and trends.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this newly-created position is to raise the funds required to support CE's expansion plans. Key components of CE's near-term expansion plans include: the funding for development of its new Champions of Faith video series on professional athletes in various sports; the marketing and expansion of its weekly radio show, the continued development of its new web portal and associated websites, and the development of Catholic Scripture Study youth programs.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3-5 years development experience with a demonstrated ability in the solicitation of major gifts; familiarity and contacts within the San Diego or broader California philanthropic community desirable; self-starter, results-oriented and eager to solicit potential donors; strategic and long-range planning skills; exceptional written and oral communication skills; excellent administrative and management skills working with both staff and board of directors; demonstrated ability to inspire confidence, motivate and persuade; willingness to travel; commitment to and knowledge of Catholic Faith.
