SAN FRANCISCO, January 10, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Campion College, founded last year by former faculty and alumni of the University of San Francisco (USF)'s Saint Ignatius Institute, has completed its first term with 21 students enrolled.

“This is an invaluable program,” says Jason Kenney, Canadian Member of Parliament and an alumnus of Campion's predecessor, the St. Ignatius Institute. “It will change young people's lives for the better and continue the tremendous tradition of the Institute.”

LifeSite News reported last year how the liberal-controlled California branch of the Jesuit order punished Fr. Fessio for his role in founding Campion College, which is affiliated with Ignatius Press. Nellie Boldrick, registrar at Campion, reports that although initially USF engaged in “some harassment” of the new college (which is fully independent) there has been little trouble of late. The college will be opening a second campus in Washington, D.C. in the Fall of 2003.
