DAILY DEVOTIONS, LIFELONG FAITH

Ask Jan Connell An Introduction to Angels

02 Apr 2001

Dear Jan Connell,

This Lent has been a particularly trying time for me and my family. We have been so busy that it has been truly difficult to get into the spirit of Lent. Do you have any suggestions?

Exhausted

Dear Exhausted,

It is wise and admirable that you realize you are exhausted. Such exhaustion as you describe is an early warning sign of burn-out. In my humble opinion, you need more Angel Power.

Do you ever think about God's holy Angels? They are are all around us. They love to be included in all our activities. Yet, because Angels are quite humble by nature, they usually do not interfere in our lives unless we invite them to do so.

When we live and work with Angel Power, life becomes a glorious expression of God's loving presence. Have you prayed about seeking the help of the Angels? They are our best and truest friends.

Angels see the face of God at all times. They communicate God's love and power to us. When we live and work with God's love and power, we have adequate time for everything that is God's will for us. Given this reality, it is not wise to ignore the Angels. As God's ambassadors, they are empowered to do what is necessary to bring us into union with God.

Lent is a wonderful time to forge a deep and lasting relationship with the Angels. In my book Angel Power; How to Access the Power of the Nine Choirs of Angels (Ballantine Books, New York, 1995) you will find many ways to grow in holiness and peace with the help of your Guardian Angel, and the entire Nine Choirs of Angels in the Celestial Court. The following exerpt from Angel Power may be of some help.

“Humanity stands on the brink of the Era of the Angels. A spiritual awakening unlike anything known in the history of the world begins now. This book is for all those who desire to know the angels well and to communicate with them. Angel Power is a source of empowerment by which even the smallest and weakest human being can ascend to the heights of peace, joy and love. Angel Power is the energy to ascend to God's Kingdom. Those who ride on the wings of the angels ride in the arms of God. Now is a glorious time for those who know the angels well.”

I pray that you will come to know your Guardian Angel better during this Lent. If you take the time to discover your Guardian Angel right beside you at all times, you will have the happiest Easter ever.

Blessings,

Jan

Scriptural Basis for Angels

There is a vast store of Scriptural evidence for the existence of angels as I have described them. Here are just a few verses:

• See, I am sending an angel before you, to guard you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared. Be attentive to him and heed his voice. Do not rebel against him, for he will not forgive your sin. My authority resides in him. If you heed his voice and carry out all I tell you, I will be an enemy to your enemies and a foe to your foes (Exodus, 23:20-22).

• Bless the Lord, all you angels, mighty in strength and attentive, obedient to every command (Ps. 103:20).

• Suddenly the angel of the Lord stood by him and a light shone in the cell. He tapped Peter on the side and awakened him, saying, “Get up quickly.” The chains fell from his wrists. The angel said to him, “Put on your belt and your sandals.” He did so. Then he said to him, “Put on your cloak and follow me” (Acts 12:7-8).

• For God commands the angels to guard you in all your ways. With their hands they shall support you, lest you strike your foot against a stone (Psalms 91:11-12).

• “But to which of the angels has(God) ever said: 'Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool?' Are they (angels) not all ministering spirits sent to serve, for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?” (Heb. 1:13,14).

• “See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father” (Mt.18:10).

• Jesus said: Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man (John 1:51).
