Display of Decadence

The German artist-scientist responsible for this show says it’s educational, and since human beings are nothing more than a collection of chemicals, he wants his own body similarly displayed after he’s gone.

Fortunately, Americans don’t share those feelings — most of us still feel connected to the Judeo-Christian tradition with its insistence that people are sacred and deserving of dignity — even after death. That’s why we reacted angrily when the crematorium in Georgia discarded hundreds of corpses. If we altogether abandon this instinctive reverence for life and death, we’ll follow our European cousins on the path to decadence.

Haters of Israel Abuse the Exodus Story

A full-page ad in The New York Times has called for Christians and Jews to come together and observe Passover this year by condemning Israel as a new Pharaoh and demanding freedom for the Palestinians. This left-wing assault not only abuses a Jewish holiday to spread hatred of Israel, but misstates essential elements of Biblical tradition.

Passover is a celebration of our freedom to serve God, not merely our liberation from human oppression. In the Book of Exodus, God repeatedly tells Moses to demand that Pharaoh “send out my people that they may serve Me in the wilderness.” It’s not a plea for release, but a call for

a purposeful journey on a divine mission — a mission of redemption. It’s degrading to trivialize the message of Passover and the Exodus to conform to some political cause of the moment — especially when that cause elevates the suicidal and murderous violence of Islamic fanatics.

The True Colors of the Democratic Party

The Democratic Party has just received the two biggest financial gifts in American political history — one donation for seven million dollars, and another for five million. Such contributions will be strictly illegal once the new campaign finance laws go into effect this fall, but it’s the source of these gifts — not their size or timing — that make them so distasteful.

The mega-donations come from two schlock Hollywood producers — Chaim Saban, who created the hyper-violent and widely condemned kiddie program “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” and Stephen Bing, known as Stephen Bing Laden, who won headlines in an ugly paternity spat over his illegitimate baby with actress Elizabeth Hurley.

Democrats like Joe Lieberman condemn Hollywood excess and say they back the traditional family — but two of the sleaziest operators in show business have become the party’s biggest donors. If Democrats really stand for family values, then why do wealthy degenerates support them so lavishly?
