Another site on the Lord of the Rings? Exploring Catholic themes?

Why?

Upon the conclusion of the film trilogy Lord of the Rings, a renewed interest in J.R.R. Tolkien's writings emerged. The impressive cinematography of the films has enabled this Catholic author to win the respect and attention of people entrenched in modern pop culture.

Jeremy Palman, a young Catholic convert, is a devoted fan of the movies and since the release of the first film had often been involved in

online discussions about the film and its sequels. In these discussions, it became clear to him that most people were unaware of the Catholic influences behind the original stories and of Tolkein's own devout practice of the Catholic faith.

After a series of experiences with monastic contemplation in France and further study on the monastic life, Jeremy was able to see even more Catholic themes in the subsequent films.

Says Palman, “I think one of the major reasons non-Catholics struggle to “see” any Catholicism in the Lord of the Rings is that they have not seen lived a healthy and true Catholicism, and hence miss the parallels. One has to know it to recognize it.”

Palman felt a calling within his heart to develop something that would expose the essential Catholic nature of the series. He spent many months researching and by the end of 2003 Mythictruth.com was born.

It can now be used as a resource by anyone who loves the Lord of the Rings films or books and wishes to know more about how J.R.R. Tolkien, the man who infused faith into Middle-earth.

The modern world doesn't want to embrace Christian morals or beliefs, but if they read Tolkien's works (or see the movies), a subtle affectation of the formation of conscience may occur.

Palman hopes that users of the internet resource will use it for the good of the Heavenly Kingdom.
