St. Mary Magdalene

St. Mary Magdalene shows how deeply God’s mercy can restore a soul. Delivered from darkness, she remained steadfast through Christ’s Passion and was chosen to share the news of His Resurrection. Her life reminds us that grace not only heals the past but commissions us to share hope.

St. Mary Magdalene lived in the first century and is remembered as one of the most faithful followers of Jesus Christ. Freed by Him from seven demons, she became a devoted disciple who supported His ministry and remained close to Him even when others fled. Mary stood at the foot of the Cross during the Crucifixion, witnessing His suffering and death with steadfast love. On Easter morning, she was the first to discover the empty tomb and encounter the risen Lord, who sent her to announce the Resurrection to the apostles. For this reason, she is honored as the “Apostle to the Apostles.” Her life reveals the transforming power of God’s mercy and the call to bear witness to Christ’s love.

Practical Lessons

  1. Believe in God’s Mercy: Mary’s life was changed by Christ’s forgiveness and healing. In our daily lives, we can trust that no sin or past mistake is greater than God’s mercy.
  2. Remain Faithful in Trials: Mary stood by Jesus at the Cross when many abandoned Him. We can imitate her fidelity by standing with loved ones in their suffering and by staying close to Christ in times of hardship.
  3. Proclaim the Good News: Mary was the first to announce the Resurrection. Like her, we are called to share our faith with joy—whether by words, example, or simple acts of kindness that reflect Christ’s victory.

Prayer

St. Mary Magdalene, first witness of the Resurrection, pray for us to open our hearts to Christ’s mercy, to remain faithful in times of trial, and to proclaim His love with courage and joy. May your example inspire us to draw ever closer to the Lord. Amen.
