DAILY DEVOTIONS, LIFELONG FAITH

Epiklesis

29 Nov 2007

You are here again.
You've come, O Gift of Heaven.
I kneel in grateful awe.
How quietly you come among us.

Loving patiently, waiting always,
Your arms outstretched, O gentle King.
With you the promise comes;
You will never leave.

What would you say to me
if I were just to listen.
Search my heart and melt my spirit.
How quietly you come among us.

The most I have to give
is the darkness of my soul.
It is painful to let you see;
I hesitate to let you in.

The flame you bring so softly warms.
You bring me life and strength.
Such is the gift I oft ignore.
How quietly you come among us.

I hear you say "My lovely child."
I love you, gentle King.
My spirit yields within your fire;
a universe revealed.

You come again, O Gift of Heaven,
with purifying light;
My soul renewed within your grace.
How quietly you come among us.
