Joshua 24:15
And if you be unwilling to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Strictly speaking, there is no such thing as atheism. We do not have the option of not worshipping something. We only have the option of what or whom we shall worship. Joshua knew this and presented Israel with the choice, not of whether to worship, but of worshipping Him Who is God or of worshipping stuff that is not God. The modern atheist who thinks he is freed from worship by his atheism sooner or later discovers that he is merely worshipping something else, whether it is “billions and billions of stars” or his own brain, or force, or pleasure, or money, or sex, or something else. In the end, the choice is always between the worship of God and the worship of a creature. It is never, ever between worshipping and not worshipping. Today, worship the only God worth our worship: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who is the God of Israel.
