When a President Hates His Country

Barack Obama suffeers from an inherent policy contradiction, especially in foreign affairs.

On the one hand, as a Leftist he despises the United States and sees it as a force for ill in the world. On the other, as president, is judged by how well the country fares during his tenure.

Logically, he cannot reconcile the contradiction of these two imperatives: If he wants to be reelected and celebrated as a great leader, he has to forward American interests; but if he wants to implement his preferred policies, he subverts the country and fouls his nest.

Ideology vs. interests; this Leftist conundrum goes far to explain why Obama’s Leftist comrades despise his time in office, for he has on occasion ditched his worldview to try to make things work (the base at Guantánamo) or he adopted a muddled middle ground that pleases neither side (the war in Iraq, Arab-Israeli diplomacy).

The same consideration applies to domestic policy as well (higher taxes or lower employment?) but not so starkly as in foreign policy.

    Mr Pipes,
Jesus said, “Judge not, lest you yourself be judged.” While it should be left to God alone to judge you, who so easily judge the motives of another, allow me a few suggestions for you and God to ponder.

    l) “despises” – assuming I suppose that all “Leftists” despise America, how did you come by that? Are you able to crawl behind the mind of a “Leftist”(and all other evil persons) and discern their thoughts as they run through the synapses of their brains? 2) “contradiction” – whose contradiction is it anyway? I assume it is a figment of your own imagination, like ‘night’ is a contradiction of ‘day’ (and therefore evil), 3)”Leftist conundrum” pits ideology vs interests. Oh, so that’s what BigO’s been doing these past 3 years,”Should I get up this morning and thwart the intentions of the righteous, or stay in bed because I’m tired?” 4) Let’s see, who started the “base at Guantanamo” anyway? Hmmmm, could it possibly have been that last rightist sitting on the throne – you know, what’s ‘z name? Wonderful guy! He was certainly a fella without a conundrum!

First of all Mr. Pike you’re WRONG! This president hates everything about Freedom and liberty! He also hates Christians and loves Muslums! Get a CLUE! He will allow muslums to pray in the schools and he thinks we owe them an apology for 9/11! He isn’t liked by anyone in his party or the other party that Bush came from. He also hates freedom and business and loves a Big Government that wants to CONTROL OUR FREEDOM in every area of our lives. Including Telling Us to buy Worthless Healthcare that won’t even cover our children or our Grandma when they get sick. Have you ever Read the Healthcare law? Nancy and Obama want total control of this country and by the way they aren’t going to have to buy the rotten healthcare plans that us poor Americans have to buy. For my family it’s going to cost of 2000 a month! If we don’t buy we will be fined every time we go to the doctor! In other words the Goverment controls our MONEY AND OUR HEALTH AND OUR CHILDRENS! It is WRONG Morally for a CAtholic to vote PRO-CHOICE and that’s exactly what he is. Let us Not forget that!

K- Up until this morning, I thought that Mr. Pipes was the most judgemental writer on the planet. I apologize to him, for now I know that you are. However, both of you attribute evil motives to Obama of which you have no information whatsoever! I am sure that Pres Obama is not a hater of America, freedom, liberty, Christians, Muslims, apple pie or popcorn – while Mr Pipes and you both trash the constitution and everything we stand for as Americans, especially the respect we owe to the office of ANY president of the United States, whether we agree with him or not.

And don’t reply listing MY motives for saying the above because you know nothing about me either. I do not agree with everything the president does, but I respect him as our president. And, after viewing the (in)actions of the GOP, Congress and the fact that after all their objections to everything Obama does, they couldn’t come up with a single candidate with enough skills or intelligence to oppose him in the next election. All they do is mindlessly badmouth him and call him names, as if that is the silver bullet to slay the perceived dragon whose vice is being a (gasp) Democrat.

In addition, I am appalled at how willing you squeaky “right” people are to find fault with absolutely everything a dem president does, while licking the boots of any repub president, no matter what he does or says, or how many wars he leads us into.

If you want to know who is REALLY trashing the American way – look in the mirror.

Sorry Mary – but the writing is on the wall – if only you would look and listen. The President has stated often that it his his goal to “transform America”. His policies and actions are by and large, un-Constitutional, that is, they are not in agreement with the way this country was founded. And this is fact, not judgement.

And at the same time, you are more than willing to criticize his predecessor – and perhaps judge him. Maybe you should leave the political leanings out of it if you wish to remain unhyprocritical. Your identification with the Democrat party and your use of terms like “Squeaky “right”” people says it all.

Sorry Larry, but i stand by what i said, and my “criticism” of a prior president was only for comparison for the author of the column and K. I will never apologize for criticising those who trash a sitting president with name-calling and degrading remarks. If you differ with his policies, state an intelligent reason why and/or what policies you think would be better.

Throwing out the terms, “Obamacare”,”Leftist”, “America Hater”, et al mean absolutely zero! Never have I heard one of you who hate Obama’s policies give anything to substantiate your claims, except of course to give tax breaks to the rich, make Seniors and the poor make up the difference in cuts to SS and MC, phasing out Govt offices of Education, Defense, and gee, what’s that other one? Hmmmmm, my mind draws a blank.

All of these cuts are contained in the Libertarian platform. I’m guessing that’s the future of the GOP – just a different name. I dare you – look up Libertarian Party on the web and check off how many of those policies line up with the rhetoric of GOP hopefuls.
But then, maybe you don’t want your minds to be enlightened.

  • LarryW2LJ

All I see here are Democrat party talking points and cliches.

“give tax breaks to the rich, make Seniors and the poor make up the difference in cuts to SS and MC, phasing out Govt offices of Education, Defense”

It’s getting tiresome and boring. Face up to the facts, like it or not, the government has grown to the point where it has become unsustainable. Even if we were to tax the “rich” to the hilt, we could not begin to trim the deficit that Mr. Obama has grown (and his predecessors too, he is not alone to blame, although he seems to be an expert at deficit growth).

We need smarter, smaller Constitutional based government, not a bigger, ever growing, spend-like-there’s-no-tomorrow government. The Founders realized that the strength of our Nation is the people. Turn the people loose – give them the freedom they need and the economy and the nation can return to its former greatness.

If you want to destroy the nation and the people, grow the government to an even bigger monstrosity than it is. Unfortunately, Mr. Obama doesn’t think the government is big enough and is doing everything he can to make it bigger. Personally, I want the freedom to make my own life decisions. I don’t want the government telling me what I can say, what I am allowed to eat, what kind of medical care I am allowed to get or not get.

We’ve thrown away so much of our personal freedom as it is. How much more are we going to throw away? Persoanlly, I believe in the basic goodness of the American people. Left to our own devices, and with a firm reliance on God, we can make this Nation great again – what God intended it to be.
