Homily of the Day

Wednesday of the First Week of Lent

Why is it that we ask for a “sign” before we believe in God’s love?
Isn’t it enough of a sign that Jesus came and died on the cross for
us?

In today’s reading, the sign of Jonah made the Ninevites repent. Yet,
our generation, to whom God sent his Son, someone greater than Jonah
or Solomon, refused to believe and repent. Jesus Christ is the sign
for the present generation.

During this time of Lent, let us spend more time in prayer to
strengthen our faith. The miracles we are waiting for are happening
right now, every day in our lives; we are just too blinded to see
them. Jesus showed us the way, all we need to do is follow him.
