I just finished reading "Raising Children on Purpose" by Wesley Fleming. It was a very good book with many practical parenting sections. One of the topics Fleming takes on is spending more time with our children. He offers some good ideas for making time to spend with your kids:
1) If you can't be with your family for dinner, try being there for breakfast and the drive to school.
2) Shut off the TV and spend the time with your children. Find something fun that you can do together.
3) Develop a joint hobby – it can revolve around sports or collecting something or playing games, as long as it is something you both enjoy and can do together.
4) Take a vacation every year. It can be low frills and low cost but the memories it creates are priceless.
5) Make a "date" with each of your children. Spend some time one-on-one with each of them.
