Dear Catholic Exchange:
I am writing to request all Catholic Exchange viewers to join the state of South Dakota as we prepare for the upcoming election (November 7). Specifically, we will be voting whether or not to affirm HB 1215 (Referred Law 6) which is also known as the Women's Health and Human Life Protection Act. Click here to see a full copy of the bill, as well as the response of the Diocese of Sioux Falls.
Essentially, the bill makes it illegal to perform an abortion, even in case of rape and incest. The Diocese of Sioux Falls has published a prayer guide, which is downloadable or click here and follow the appropriate links. In addition, Fr. John Corapi, when speaking here earlier this summer, encouraged us to pray Mother Teresa's 9-1-1 novena (9 Memorares, 1 Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and 1 Rosary) each day for the passage of this law. We believe that passage of this bill will be a critical first step in eventually overturning Roe v. Wade.
Thank you for sharing this with other Catholic Exchange readers, and I thank all of you who will join us in prayer over the next several weeks.
May God bless you for your efforts.
Yours in Christ,
Jason Stangeland
Brookings, South Dakota
