(AgapePress) – With the release last week of the movie Jurassic Park III, interest in dinosaurs is sure to rise. Soon there will be a biblically based video series to answer many questions about dinosaurs.
Answers in Genesis Ministries and Gospel Communications International have joined forces to produce a Discovery Team video series. The Discovery Team uses live action drama, two- and three-dimensional animation, and high-tech animatronics.
Buddy Davis is host of the video series. He says the project will give children tools to defend their faith. “The Bible has a good deal to say about dinosaur-like creatures, in the Book of Job and in a number of places in the Bible,” Davis says. “We're giving children — and moms and dads, too — knowledge on how they can handle these types of vital issues that they're going to hear.”
“Dinosaurs are often used as a tool that evolutionists will use to cause children and parents to believe in millions of years, and time, matter, and chance,” he says. “So we're giving children the ammunition … how to defend themselves … in these vital issues.”
Davis says the videos are a great opportunity to share the biblical history of how man and dinosaurs were both created by God. “I just praise God that we're able to stand on the authority of the Word and we can tell people that [they] can hold their head up high [and] be proud [of being a Christian],” he says. “We've got a lot of reason for what we believe — it's certainly not an non-reasonable faith.”
Davis emphasized one his favorite verses from the Bible — Be able to defend your faith and give a reason for the hope that is placed within you with meekness and fear (1 Peter 3:15). “That's telling us to be polite.” he says. “We don't need to be rude to anybody. But we need to show people that we can defend our faith.”
The first two 30-minute videos in the series — “Six Short Days, One Big Adventure” and “A Jurassic Ark Mystery” — will be available early next month.
