U.S. National Right to Life Announces Endorsement of George W. Bush for President

WASHINGTON — Last week, National Right to Life PAC announced its endorsement of George W. Bush for President of the United States. “President Bush has shown himself to be a great pro-life president,” stated Carol Tobias, political director of the National Right to Life Committee. “He has backed with actions his statement that unborn children should be 'welcomed in life and protected in law.'”

Since taking office, President Bush has, among other things, reinstated the Mexico City Policy, blocked federal funding of research that kills human embryos, and signed both the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act and the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act. At the signing of the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, President Bush said, “The Born-Alive Infants Protection Act is a step toward the day when every child is welcomed in life and protected in law. It is a step toward the day when the promises of the Declaration of Independence will apply to everyone, not just those with the voice and power to defend their rights.”

Of the Democrats seeking the nomination, all are pro-abortion. A review of their records and statements shows that there is practically no difference in their very extreme positions on abortion.

Senators Kerry, Edwards, and Lieberman have solid pro-abortion voting records. All three voted against the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. In his speech formally launching his presidential campaign, Kerry emphatically stated, “As president, I will only appoint Supreme Court Justices who will uphold a woman's right to choose.”

Howard Dean is opposed to any legal limits on abortion. He has said that he would veto any parental notification bill and that he will do everything he can to overturn the recently enacted Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act.

In a recent interview with The Union Leader, in Manchester, NH, Wesley Clark expressed his opposition to any limits on, “anything up to delivery,” and even “anything up to the head coming out of the womb.”
