Two Ways!

Psalm 1:6

The LORD knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

Scripture, in numerous places, sets before us the “Two Ways”: the way of darkness and the way of light, the way of the righteous and the way of the wicked.  Do the writers really think life is that simple?  No.  But in a complex world it is sometimes helpful to have things broken down into rather elementary building blocks so that we cannot finesse our way out of facing the obvious.  Jesus himself, fully aware of life’s ambiguities and grey areas, made use of this teaching device himself to remind us that there were “two ways”: the broad and narrow way.  One way is a dead end.  The other, the path to life.  He knew whereof he spoke since he himself is the way, the truth and the life.  Follow him.  He’s the only way.
