Lamentations 3:25-26
The LORD is good to those who wait for him,
to the soul that seeks him.
It is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the LORD.
Saturday is the great day of Waiting in the Christian faith. It is the day that the body of Jesus waited in the heart of the earth for the Resurrection and world waited for the Turn of the Ages. Waiting is not just stuff that goes on in between the rare moments of real life. It is part of real life (experienced in massive quantities by, among other people, the Incarnate Word of God as he spent 30 years in total obscurity doing grunt work in Nazareth). And that is because it is in the hidden places, the silences, the waiting, and the quiet corners of life that God comes to us. Be faithful there and you will be faithful when your hour to shine comes.
