Theistic Evolution

[Editor’s note: the following letter is in response to Mark Shea’s article, Mary, Evolution and Michaelangelo's Chisel.]

Dear Mark,

What do you say to a fellow like Hank Hanegraf who says “either believe in evolution or creation if you want but don't blame God for creating man through theistic evolution.”

Walter

Dear Walter,

I say, “Thanks for your input.” A Catholic is quite free to believe in theistic evolution if he likes — or to disbelieve it. The matter has not been settled either by science or the Magisterium.
