The Time is Near!

Luke 21:29-31
Look at the fig tree, and all the trees; as soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near.

Many of the things described in Jesus’ discourse on His Second Coming are things that characterized every age: wars, rumors of war, false prophets, etc.  This have always been with us.  And so, therefore, has He – just behind the veil of the world, waiting to break in whenever someone calls out to Him in faith, or the sacraments are celebrated, or His word is heard in faith.  That veil is getting thinner as the world keeps calling more insistently for the Antichrist to give us a perfect, godless, secular paradise.  Someday, says Jesus, the world will get its wish – and it won’t like it.  But He also says not to fear, for when Antichrist comes, Jesus will be nearer than ever and the veil will at last born pulled away completely, revealing the Final Summer Light of Heaven.  Until that Day, all times are soon for Him.
