The Overscheduled Family

For parents of busy children, much of our time management deals with our children's schedule – getting them where they need to be, properly clothed, with the correct equipment and/or food, and doing so on time.  Many moms I know switch into professional chauffeur mode every afternoon, carting their kids to various lessons, sports, scout meetings, religious education and activities.  It can be overwhelming, especially for families who are not organized.

I just finished posting a great article by Jodie Lynn entitled Taming the Sign Up Activity War over at CatholicMom.com.  Jodie's ideas about scheduling and selecting activities can actually be relevant for "grown up" activities too.

Going into this spring (translated into "little league season"), take a look at the various commitments your family has and be sure that they don't edge out what should be our biggest family commitment: time spent with one another.
