The Master Builder!

Psalm 127:1
Unless the LORD builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.

One frequent temptation of the human race is to undertake grand ego-building projects when the Lord has not approved the blueprints.  We forge ahead in our own strength (easy enough to do at the beginning) and then discover down the road (sometimes waaaaay down the road after we are heavily invested in the project) that this is a no-go. If we are fools, we press on with the project like the builders of the Tower of Babel and make ourselves incomprehensible idiots in the process (which explains why so many philosophy professors build elaborate intellectual systems to defend fundamentally stupid and evil ideas).  But if we are sensible, we tell God we are sorry and ask Him what we should do instead.  Today, let the Lord build the house.  He knows what He’s doing.
