The Eighth Day of Creation!

Daniel 2:21

He changes times and seasons;
he removes kings and sets up kings;
he gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to those who have understanding.

Periodically, somebody stops to wonder why Christians celebrate their Sabbath on Sunday when Judaism celebrates it on Saturday.  The answer is hinted at in today’s verse.  God changes times and seasons.  Sunday is a “little Easter”.  Every Sunday is a feast day in honor of the great Marriage Feast of the Lamb that goes on perpetually in heaven and into which we enter at every Mass.  The Church celebrates this final and greatest Rest into which God entered after he conquered death on the mystical Eighth Day of Creation.  Let this Sunday be a sacrament of the mystery that goes on eternally outside of time: the Day on which Christ gave us his wisdom and knowledge, overthrew the King of Death, and was crowned the Lord of Lords.
