Study: Abortion Increases Chances of Hastened Death in Women

by Bill Fancher

A recently published medical study may be negating the efforts of abortion advocates to suppress information about the lingering mental effects of the procedure on women.

A recent issue of the British Medical Journal reports a new study that concludes women who have abortions are twice as likely to die within the next two years as women who give birth. The study found that women who abort their children are 154% more likely to commit suicide, 82% more likely to die of accidents, and 44% more likely to die of natural causes than those we decide to carry their babies to term.

Dr. David Stevens of the Christian Medical and Dental Association says he is not shocked by the findings. He says that women who abort their babies later have many regrets.

“It affects not only their emotional, but their physical health,” Stevens says. “And because of that, you see these higher rates of death, suicide, accidents … there's more risk-taking behavior after an abortion. [Those women do] a lot of things that just contribute to almost a sense of wanting to punish themselves for what they've done.”

The report breaks through what many pro-life advocates consider a cover-up by abortion supporters. According to Stevens, the pro-life community has been trying to bring the subject to light for a long time — but no one wants to discuss the issue.

“It's not only not discussed, but a number of the Planned Parenthood and other groups have done an all-out effort trying to cover up this data and come out with information to try to contradict it,” the physician says. “They made the statement, which is almost ludicrous, that 98% of women that have abortions have no psychological or physical sequela [an aftereffect of disease or injury] — which is quite ridiculous.”

Stevens says many studies have proven that women who have abortions suffer from emotional problems for a significant amount of time. Results of the study are based on data collected from 173,000 women in California.
