Speak Up For God!

Isaiah 6:8

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

It is extraordinary, when you think about it, to realize that the Lord of the Universe bothers to ask “who will go for us?” After all, it’s not as if He needs humans to pipe up on His behalf. And yet, God calls us to speak for Him. What is more, He asks us to speak, not merely as a King asks an ambassador to speak, but as the stranger, the widow, and the orphan ask and plead for a powerful benefactor to speak out on their behalf. This is not, of course, because God is weak but because God, in His majestic power, has joined Himself to the “least of these” in an intimate union. Today, listen to voice of God, particularly as He speaks out on behalf of His poor ones and then say, like Isaiah, “Here am I! Send me.”
