Judges 15:16
And Samson said,
“With the jawbone of an ass,
heaps upon heaps,
with the jawbone of an ass
have I slain a thousand men.”
Today’s verse is one of those ones which has something of a double meaning. Samson slew a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of an ass. But, truth be told, millions have died because of the jawbones of asses like Hitler, Stalin, and Mao. In our own country, the jawbones of numerous asses flap in the breeze and justify the heaps upon heaps of babies killed through abortion and the souls destroyed by hedonism, consumerism, and the culture of death. The jawbone, far more than any other bone in the body has the capacity to kill not only the body but the soul as well. Today, let us take a little time to ask the Lord how best to employ our jawbones.
