Sex Survey For Ten Year Old Enrages Parents

LOS ANGELES, (LSN.ca) – Seven parents filed a claim against a Los Angeles area school district after their 10-year-old children were asked to fill in an explicit sex survey. The survey had asked children if they thought about “having sex” or “touching other people's private parts” and “if they didn't trust people because they might want sex,” according to reports.

The claimants charged: “Parents have the statutory right to know, in advance, whether their children will be given sex education at a school, and if they choose, in their sole discretion, to exempt their children from such education. By robbing the claimants of the right to control their children's upbringing, the district simultaneously robbed the students of their innocence and the claimants of their status as parents.”

In February, trustees said they might create a panel of parents to review materials prior to classroom use. The school board was scheduled to consider the parents' claim on Monday last week, but by Wednesday no further developments were reported.
