Schindler Family Grateful of Prayer, Support

SOUTHAMPTON, PA — After a Mass which was celebrated for Terri Schindler-Schiavo in her parents' former parish of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Terri's father Bob Schindler expressed his gratitude for the support. “I'm ecstatic for Terri that these people would come out — and pray for her. It is so meaningful,” he told the Catholic Standard & Times, Philadelphia's archdiocesan newspaper. With tears in his eyes, he said “Personally, I'm just overwhelmed at coming home again and being in our church. I'm so thankful, I'm so grateful.”

The parish came together in the celebration of the Mass to pray for Terri and show support for her parents who continue to battle the courts and Terri's husband, Michael Schiavo, who has for the past three years tried to have Terri's feeding tube removed so she can die.

The Schindlers are doubtful of her husband Michael's claim that their brain-damaged daughter had expressed an end-of-life wish.

Some doctors are claiming that there is no hope for her recovery, but the Schindler's are hopeful that, with therapy, some improvement in her condition could be made.
