LifeChecks are personalized checks emblazoned with pro-life sayings and images, and thousands of Americans use them as a way to advance the pro-life cause. The parent company of LifeChecks, Custom Direct LLC, also markets checks with other Christian, patriotic and pro-family themes under the name, The Check Gallery. Custom Direct says its products are intended to “help you express your faith.”
Now, Life Dynamics Incorporated a pro-life organization in Denton, Texas has revealed that Custom Direct has another subsidiary called Message Products, which makes checks for:
• Planned ParenthoodAdding insult to injury, the Message Products website states that some of the revenue generated by the sale of its checks is funneled back into these organizations, with the total contribution being $500,000 per year. Interestingly, Custom Direct does not appear to make similar contributions to pro-life groups for the sale of LifeChecks.
• The National Organization for Women
• The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)
• Several gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender rights organizations
• other radical left-wing groups
Life Dynamics President, Mark Crutcher, exposed the tangled web on the May 2005 edition of his organization's monthly television show, LifeTalk. This program is scheduled for public release next week. Describing the situation as sleazy and underhanded, Crutcher says that, “The LifeChecks and Check Gallery websites contain nothing that might inform a potential customer about the connection between Custom Direct and these pro-abortion and pro-homosexual groups.” However, he also points out that, at another Custom Direct website, 4Checks.com, the company sells its Christian, patriotic, family values, and pro-life checks right alongside its anti-Christian and anti-life products.
