Prayer to Know Your Place

Loving God,

  in the name given to your Son, Jesus,

  you revealed his place in our salvation.

  Allow me to see that you have given me

    a particular role as well.

Especially in those times

  when I wonder whether my efforts matter,

  lead me to see that I am not your unnamed

    or unloved child

  but that you have chosen me to contribute

    to your kingdom.

When I doubt my worth or direction,

  remind me that I have a place in your heart.

Let me know that from my mother's womb

  you have called me by my own name. Amen.
