Prayer at Dawn

by Ed Halbig

I heard you Lord, just now,

Calling softly, rousing me gently from my

Dulcent dreams, your spirit ever so tenderly

Filling my mind, displacing my sleep,

Inviting me to throw off my comforter and

Face the adventure of another day dawning.

Long before the first rays dissolve the shadows,

I accept your challenge: I will try again,

Leaving doubt and worry on my pillow, I will

Run toward your redemptive sunrise, for

While I have stumbled in the darkness often,

Your light has always guided my path.
