Dear Mark,
I am doing two Bible studies and do intense research and sometime within the last month I read a comment that I forgot to write down and can't relocate. I read that there is a verse that the Jews sometimes use to point to Scripture to prove that Jesus is not the Messiah. I have wracked my brain but can't come up with where I read it. I suspect it could be a comment from my Catholic Study Bible, NAB version, but I cannot relocate it. Could you please help?
I always look forward to Faith Questions in Catholic Exchange. I have learned a lot through your answers and links. The Holy Spirit is indeed very much at work.
Thanks for your help.
Have a Blessed Day,
Doug and Phyllis

Dear Doug and Phyllis,
It could be any of a number of verses. For instance, some Jews pointed to the verse in Deuteronomy which said that anybody hanged on a tree is accursed. Jesus was hanged on a tree (the cross) so he's accursed and can't be the Messiah. Paul discusses this in Galatians 3:13-14.
Beyond that, I don't know what verse you might be thinking of. There are numerous ones pointed to by Jewish critics of Christianity.
Mark
