Deuteronomy 6:3
Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them; that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
The “them” God commands Israel to do is His laws. Obedience to God is the condition of our happiness whether three millennia ago or today. It is true that we cannot keep the law by ourselves. It is not true that the law is therefore to be ignored. That route is simply a quick ticket to nowhere. We may never go below the law by breaking it. But we can go above the law by transcending it with love by the power of the Spirit. That is the way to heaven, which is the true land flowing with milk and honey.
