Citizen of nation death and hell bent,
Dwelling under blackest Enlightenment,
I pray: Dawn from on high break upon us!
Shine through fine wrappings to squalor and pus.
Your word: “Let your light shine before others.”
So they’ll believe—be sisters and brothers.
No light or little have I to project.
Kill me if need be that I may reflect
You, light from light, first light of creation.
Sun of all, light of every nation:
Guide our feet into unending rest
With you in that nation where all is blest.
Amen.
